WhatsApp finally allows users to delete sent messages, here's how to do it

whatsapp update

WHATSAPP finally allows users to delete messages sent from today. Here's how you can delete messages sent to friends and family.

WhatsApp deploys a brand new feature that allows users to delete messages they have already sent.

The WhatsApp update is being rolled out to more than one billion users of the Facebook-owned email application.

WhatsApp users will be able to delete messages they have sent to an individual group or chat.

Messages that have been successfully deleted in a chat will be replaced by "this message has been deleted".

However, there is a problem: WhatsApp users can only delete messages within seven minutes after they are sent.

The WhatsApp team said, "Deleting messages for everyone allows you to delete specific messages that you have sent to an individual group or chat.

"This is especially useful if you have sent a message to the wrong conversation or if the message you sent contains an error.

"Messages deleted successfully for everyone will be replaced by" This message has been deleted "in your recipients' discussions.

"Similarly, if you see" This message has been deleted "in a chat, it means that the sender has deleted his message for everyone."

WhatsApp provided a breakdown for the removal of messages sent in the iOS and Android app in a FAQ message on their website

Here is a step by step guide on how to delete messages sent to everyone in WhatsApp:

• Open WhatsApp and navigate to the chat that contains the message you want to delete.

• Tap and hold the message> choose Delete from the menu. Optionally, select multiple messages to delete multiple messages at once.

• Tap Delete> Delete for everyone.

In the post FAQ, WhatsApp added: "You can only delete messages for everyone up to seven minutes after sending.

"Once seven minutes have elapsed, there is no way to delete messages for everyone."

And here's a step-by-step guide to how to delete WhatsApp messages that you have sent or received on your phone:

• Open WhatsApp and navigate to the chat that contains the message you want to delete.

• Tap and hold the message> choose Delete from the menu. Optionally, select multiple messages to delete multiple messages at once.

• Tap Delete> Delete for me.

The feature has long been prevalent, with Express.co.uk reporting its existence in February.

At the time, we revealed that WhatsApp were experimenting with the new feature in its iPhone beta software.

In order to use WhatsApp's new message delete feature, you must ensure that you and the recipient have the latest version of WhatsApp.

If you or your recipient do not have the latest version, the feature will not work.

WhatsApp also warned that functionality is not a guaranteed way to ensure that your recipient does not see the offending message.

They said that recipients can see your message before it is deleted or the deletion has failed.

And if your attempts to delete a WhatsApp message to everyone has failed, you will not receive any notification
